Sights in Seoul

A couple of random shots around the city of Seoul.

When I saw this building near Hyehwa Station I had to take a picture. There are many artsy structures in this area but this stood out the most with it's multi-colored doors.

Bongeunsa Temple

Bongeunsa Temple was founded in the 10th year of King Wonseong's reign (794). It is one of the most traditional Buddhist temples built under the name of Gyeonseongsa.

A visit to Tanhyeon Elementary School

Karl and Mariemil decided to come to school and spend the entire day with me and my students. They played Scrabble while the students look with curiosity.

This student looks like Mariemil's nephew Aidan. This is how Aidan will look 7 years from now.

Hyeok Min is Mariemil's favorite. She just couldn't stop squeezing his chubby cheeks! I'll miss him too.

On the left is Yon Ung (aka Reggie). I call him Reggie because that's how he looked like when he was in elementary school. Ha ha ha!

DMZ tour in Paju

We took a tour of the DMZ. The tour includes the 3rd tunnel, Dorasan Station, and Dora Observatory (where you can see North Korea to see what they've been up to). The tour is 3 hours and only 11,000 won.

City of Suwon 6.28.09

Mariemil and I went to Suwon on this hot and sunny day. It's summer time in South Korea and it gets hot, hot, hot and humid! Suwon is 30km south Seoul. It's famous for the Hwaseong Fortress that surrounds the city. You can hike this 7km wall in about 3 hours, not counting all the stops to take pictures! Also, Suwon is famous for its Kalbi!!!
